  23. I am having a little problem.  My 1040 ST won't boot when my SF314
  24. external disk drive is hooked up to the machine.  It won't boot at
  25. all.  We switched cables, and it worked for a while, but now--lo and
  26. behold...it has stopped.  What the HELL could be going on?  The
  27. external drive is not that old.

  43. In regards to my post about help finding a particular header file,
  44. please disregard.  I discovered the necessary header file <document.h>
  45. buried deep within the book that I am using at the moment.
  46.  
  47. Things would be MUCH easier if the authors had documented (preferably in
  48. an index) extacly which functions/headers files/etc., can be found in
  49. the text and which are found only in the Developers Kit.
  50.

  105. Okay, I'm back again with new problems.  This hard drive isn't more than
  106. two weeks old, and has been behaving very erratically.  I already explained
  107. about the failure in which it wouldn't respond until I rewrote the partition
  108. sector, and then one of the files was corrupted.  That was yesterday.  Today,
  109. it again wouldn't boot.  Checking the directory, I found that all the entries
  110. were there, but garbled.  I looked at it with disk doctor, and found that
  111. about every other byte in the directory sector had been scrambled.  Also,
  112. the directory sector had been moved from #91 to #99.  I tried to fix that,
  113. and then the HD stopped responding at all.  I rewrote the partition sector
  114. again, and it basically got fixed, except that I had to reinstall ICDBOOT.SYS,
  115. and I had two directory sectors: the original one at #91, and the scrambled
  116. one at #99.  This is the second time in two days that things got weird, and
  117. this time I didn't even do anything that could be a likely cause.  One clue:
  118. I get "sense 20" error messages all the time.  (Once it said "msense 20.")
  119. I know that Bill White has gotten these as well, and found them to be
  120. harmless, but I wonder if they're related to the problem.  Any ideas, anyone?
  121. I have a Seagate 250R, an Adaptec 4070, and the ICD host adaptor.  I use the
  122. most recent version of the ICD software, and I have control.acc, starstrk.acc,
  123. and trbocolr.acc installed, with settime.prg in the auto folder.  The
  124. applications I use include Flash, 1st Word+, Opus, TeX with dvidsk, zoo.ttp,
  125. and lately, disk doctor.  Thanks for any help!

  172. I am looking for a few types of programs for an Atari 1040ST.  Here is a
  173. list of a few that I need:

  175. A GIF picture viewer
  176. A Common Lisp compiler
  177. A plain ascii file editor (possibly handling multiple files)
  178. An ANSI C compiler (with all docs, and files included)
  179. A program to unpack the files posted on COMP.BINARIES.ATARI.ST
